A Proposal for Story Production As has been demonstrated quite clearly in the production of software such as Linux, the collaboration of a group of individuals can jointly have a much stronger effect that a small group of authors. Books in general have a single author, except for technical references. A major reason for this is the premise that the union of a lot of views into a book would be incompatible as details must be intertwined to produce a coherent story. Software or a technical reference, however, are composed of parts that only need to losely intertwine. Even with this being an apparent obstacle, this is a proposal for the collaboration of a story or stories which together will form the basis of story production. All stories produced will be released under a license virtually identical to the GPL, in that while selling of a story is possible, a distributor will retain no exclusive rights over a licensed story, be it through any law or artificial construct. To this end, stories must be backed in the same manner as the GPL with an electronically editable and accessible format in which the content and context are preserved for a user. Using a propreitary file format as a container is a form of artificial construct. This document is a proposal which will be further refined as needed.
